Garnet abrasive sand is a naturally occurring silicate mineral deposit. The harder species of abrasive garnet like almandine are used for abrasive purposes because it has a hardness on the Mohs scale of about 7 to 7.5 and provides the perfect balance between cutting speed and superior edge quality.
Garnet sand is washed, processed, and screened to the necessary abrasive grade for use as an abrasive media in industries such as water jet cutting, sand blasting, and shot blasting.
Garnet abrasive is often used as an alternative to silica sand as it produces less dust and is safer than its hazardous counterpart, silica sand. When used properly, abrasive blasting with Garnet provides comparable production rates as silica sand.

Garnet is a sandblasting mineral derived from Almandite or Andradite deposits. It is ideal for both wet and dry sandblasting applications, creating a profile free of embedment for excellent coating adhesion. Our company, Lianyungang Chemsize International Trading Co., Ltd., offers Almandite and Andradite garnets.

We offer Galaxy Garnet and Andradite Garnet for waterjet use. Galaxy Garnet is premium, while Andradite Garnet is cleaned and re-screened to Waterjet Specs. It is slightly less hard but more affordable with availability for decades to come.
Ensure to change filters more often when using Andradite Garnet due to trace minerals. No change in cutting speed.
