Blue silica gel is an ideal primary desiccant with a deep blue color when dry, changing to purple and pink as it adsorbs moisture. It has a chemical formula of SiO2·nH2O + CoCl2 and features a vast network of interconnecting pores with diameters of 20-30 nanometers. Silica gel effectively removes moisture at temperatures up to 220°F, best used at room temperature and high relative humidity.
Type A silica gel is a transparent or translucent particle with a chemical formula of mSiO2·nH2O. It is insoluble in water and inorganic acids, soluble in hydrofluoric acid and strong caustic soda solutions.
