It can change color from blue to purple and finally to light pink as it absorbs moisture, indicating the humidity level of the environment. This product can be used as a desiccant on its own or in combination with Type A Silica Gel.
Blue silica gel is primarily used for absorbing moisture and preventing rust in instruments, gauges, and equipment in enclosed conditions. When it absorbs moisture, it changes color from blue to red, visually indicating the relative humidity of the environment. It can be used with ordinary silica gel or a drier to determine the moisture absorption level and relative humidity in various environments. Our Blue Indicating Silica Gel is a versatile desiccant that can be customized in terms of particle size, packaging, moisture, and specifications to suit your needs. It is ideal for use as a primary desiccant or can be blended with other desiccants for applications requiring visual control of moisture.
The Chemical Formula of our Blue Silica Gel is SiO2· nH2O + CoCl2. It is a narrow pore silica gel with interconnecting pores of 20-30 nanometres, providing excellent moisture adsorption capabilities through physical adsorption and capillary condensation.
When dry, our silica gel beads have a deep blue color, which changes to purple and then pink as they adsorb moisture. This color-changing feature allows for easy monitoring of moisture levels. The silica gel can effectively remove moisture at temperatures up to 220°F, but it is most efficient at room temperature (70-90°F) and high relative humidity (60-90% Rh).
