Blue silica gel is an ideal primary desiccant that can be used alone or blended with other desiccants for applications requiring visual moisture control. Chemsize silica gel beads are saturated with a moisture-indicating solution, turning deep blue when dry and changing color as they adsorb moisture. The chemical formula is SiO2·nH2O + CoCl2.
Known as a narrow pore silica gel, Chemsize features interconnecting pores with diameters of 20-30 nanometers, effectively trapping and holding moisture through physical adsorption and capillary condensation. It operates efficiently at room temperature and high relative humidity, with a maximum moisture removal temperature of 220°F.
Typical Applications: Blue indicating silica gel is commonly used in compressed air dryers, gas drying systems, breathers, and packaged goods.
Type A silica gel is a transparent or translucent particle with the chemical formula mSiO2·nH2O. It is insoluble in water and inorganic acids, but soluble in hydrofluoric acid and strong caustic soda solutions. With high mechanical strength and good wear resistance, Type A silica gel has an average pore diameter of 2.0-3.0nm, a surface area of 650-800m2/g, and a pore volume of 0.35-0.45ml/g.
Application: Primarily used for drying and moisture-proofing, Type A silica gel can also serve as catalyst carriers, adsorbents, separators, and variable-pressure adsorbents.
