Fused Silica Production Process


Fused silica is high purity quartz sand that has been melted to form glass. Its high volume stability, low volumetric expansion, and high purity make fused silica a versatile material for refractory applications, such as aluminum launders.



At Lianyungang Chemsize International Trading Co., Ltd., we carefully select high purity silica sand (SiO2>99%) from Donghai/Xinyi as our raw material. The silica sand is melted at high temperatures (2000-2300 ºC) to form amorphous silicon dioxide glassy ingot, which is then processed into fused silica lump, sand, and powder according to customer requirements.

Fused Silica Making Process


Fused Silica is crafted from high-purity crystal silica sourced from China Donghai-Xinyi. Through electrical fusion at temperatures ranging from 1800-2000ºC, it transforms into amorphous Silicon dioxide. Our Fused Silica is meticulously engineered into various forms like lumps, cullet, ingots, sand, grain, granular, and powder flour. These forms are tailored for creating PV fused silica crucibles, thermal ceramics, refractories, EMC investment casting ceramic shells, and more.



Fused Silica Sand Appearance and Specifications:



  • Must be free of any unfused parts.

  • Should not contain foreign materials like strings, plastic lines, carbon, wood, metal, or other contaminants.

  • Except for conditional black dots, no other color dots are allowed.

  • Black spot diameter should not exceed 2mm.

  • Total black dots quantity should be less than 10 per square meter when opening the big bag.
