Garnet abrasive sand is a naturally occurring silicate mineral deposit. The harder species of abrasive garnet like almandine are used for abrasive purposes because it has a hardness on the Mohs scale of about 7 to 7.5 and provides the perfect balance between cutting speed and superior edge quality.
Garnet sand is washed, processed, and screened to the necessary abrasive grade for use as an abrasive media in industries such as water jet cutting, sand blasting, and shot blasting.
Garnet abrasive is often used as an alternative to silica sand as it produces less dust and is safer than its hazardous counterpart, silica sand. When used properly, abrasive blasting with Garnet provides comparable production rates as silica sand.

Garnet is a versatile sandblasting mineral sourced from Almandite or Andradite deposits. It is ideal for both wet and dry sandblasting applications, providing a clean and fast finish. With a high hardness rating of 7 to 8, garnet is long-lasting and cost-effective. It is environmentally friendly, safe, and non-toxic, making it suitable for various applications.
Our Almandite garnet is perfect for coating adhesion and surface preparation, leaving a profile free from embedment. It is available in different colors such as pink, red/brown, and grey/brown. Garnet is excellent for use in tanks, dry docks, bridges, shipyards, aluminum and fiberglass surfaces, hangar decks, powder coating, denim blasting, and industrial painting.
For waterjet cutting, we offer Galaxy Garnet and Andradite Garnet. Galaxy Garnet is a premium option with high hardness, while Andradite Garnet is a more affordable alternative. Both types are cleaned and screened to waterjet specifications, ensuring quality performance.
