Fused silica is a high purity quartz sand that has been melted to form glass. Its high volume stability, low volumetric expansion, and high purity make it an incredibly useful and versatile material for refractory applications, such as aluminum launders.

At Lianyungang Chemsize International Trading Co., Ltd., we source our raw material from high purity silica sand (SiO2 > 99%) in Donghai/Xinyi. The silica sand is melted at temperatures ranging from 2000-2300 ºC to form amorphous silicon dioxide glassy ingots, which are then processed into fused silica lumps, sand, and powder according to customer specifications.

Fused Silica Making Process

Fused Silica is produced from high-purity crystal silica sourced from China Donghai-Xinyi. It is electrically fused at temperatures ranging from 1800-2000ºC to create amorphous Silicon dioxide. The resulting material is engineered into various forms such as lumps, cullet, ingots, sand, grain, granular, and powder flour. These forms are tailored for manufacturing PV fused silica crucibles, thermal ceramics, refractories, EMC investment casting ceramic shells, and more.

Fused Silica Sand Appearance and Specifications:

• Must not contain any unfused parts.


• Should be free of foreign materials like strings, plastic lines, carbon, wood, metal, or other contaminants.


• Only conditional black dots are allowed; all other color dots are prohibited.


• Black spot diameter should not exceed 2mm.


• Total black dots quantity should be less than 10 per big bag, with a limit of 10 dots per square meter.
