Type A silica gel is a transparent or translucent particle with the chemical formula mSiO2.nH2O. It is insoluble in water and inorganic acids, soluble in hydrofluoric acid and strong caustic soda solutions. This silica gel has high mechanical strength, good wear resistance, an average pore diameter of 2.0-3.0nm, surface area of 650-800m2/g, and pore volume of 0.35-0.45ml/g.
It is mainly used for drying and moistureproof purposes. Additionally, it can be utilized as catalyst carriers, adsorbents, separators, and variable-pressure adsorbents, among other applications.

Properties:
Al Silica gel is colorless or light yellow transparent or translucent spherical particles with a chemical formula mSiO2.nAl2O3.xH2O. It has stable chemical properties, is non-combustible, and insoluble in any solvent except strong base and hydrofluoric acid. Compared to silica gel with fine holes, it has similar adsorption capacity at low humidity (e.g., RH=10%, RH=20%), but 6-10% higher adsorption capacity at high humidity (e.g., RH=80%, RH=90%). Its thermal stability (350ºC) is more than 150ºC higher than silica gel with fine holes, making it suitable for variable temperature adsorption and separation.
Application:
Mainly used for the adsorption and separation of light hydrocarbons by dehydration of natural gas. It can also serve as a catalyst and catalyst carrier in the petroleum industry, industrial desiccant liquid adsorbent, and gas separation.
