Garnet abrasive sand is a naturally occurring silicate mineral deposit. The harder species of abrasive garnet, such as almandine, are utilized for abrasive purposes due to their hardness on the Mohs scale of about 7 to 7.5. This provides the perfect balance between cutting speed and superior edge quality.
Our Garnet sand is meticulously washed, processed, and screened to the necessary abrasive grade for use as an abrasive media in industries such as water jet cutting, sand blasting, and shot blasting.
Garnet abrasive is a safe alternative to silica sand, producing less dust and ensuring a safer working environment. When used correctly, abrasive blasting with Garnet provides comparable production rates to silica sand.

Garnet is a versatile sandblasting mineral derived from Almandite or Andradite deposits. It is ideal for both wet and dry sandblasting applications, providing a clean and fast result. With a high hardness of 7 to 8 on the Mohs scale, garnet is a cost-effective abrasive that can be recycled multiple times.
Benefits of using garnet include its environmentally friendly nature, low dusting properties, and excellent coating preparation capabilities. It is safe, non-toxic, and leaves surfaces free from embedment, making it perfect for various applications such as tanks, dry docks, bridges, and industrial painting.
For waterjet cutting, we offer Galaxy Garnet for premium use and Andradite Garnet for cost-effective options. The Andradite Garnet is cleaned to waterjet specs and is slightly less dusty than other options. It is available in 20/40, 30/60, and 80X grit sizes, suitable for different cutting needs.
