Fused Silica Production Process


Fused silica is high purity quartz sand that has been melted to form glass. Its high volume stability, low volumetric expansion, and high purity make fused silica a versatile material for refractory applications.


At Lianyungang Chemsize International Trading Co., Ltd., we carefully select high purity silica sand (SiO2 > 99%) from Donghai/Xinyi as our raw material. The silica sand is melted at high temperatures (2000-2300 ºC) to form amorphous silicon dioxide glassy ingots, which are then processed into fused silica lumps, sand, and powder based on customer requirements.

Fused Silica Making Process


Fused Silica is produced from high purity crystal silica sourced from China Donghai-Xinyi. It is electrically fused at temperatures ranging from 1800-2000ºC to form amorphous Silicon dioxide. The material is then specially processed into lumps, cullet, ingots, sand, grain, granular, and powder flour forms. These are specifically designed for manufacturing PV fused silica crucibles, thermal ceramics, refractories, EMC investment casting ceramic shells, and more.



Fused Silica Sand Appearance and Specifications:



  1. No unfused parts are allowed.

  2. Foreign materials like strings, plastic lines, carbon, wood, metal, or other contaminants are strictly prohibited.

  3. Except for conditional black dots, all color dots are not permitted.

  4. Black spot diameter should not exceed 2mm.

  5. The total quantity of black dots should be less than 10 per square meter when opening the big bag.
