Blue silica gel consists of blue or light blue glassy particles and is available as blue silica gel indicator or blue silica gel. It exhibits hygroscopic properties, changing from blue to purple and eventually to light pink as it absorbs moisture. This color change indicates the humidity level of the environment and signals when replacement is needed. Blue silica gel can be used as a standalone desiccant or in conjunction with Type A Silica Gel.
Blue silica gel is primarily used for absorbing moisture and preventing rust in instruments, gauges, and equipment kept in enclosed conditions. As it absorbs moisture, it transitions from blue to red, visually indicating the relative humidity of the surroundings. When used with ordinary silica gel or a drier, it helps assess the moisture absorption capacity of the drier and determine the relative humidity of the environment. This versatile product is commonly employed as a silica gel drier for packaging precision instruments, leather goods, shoes, clothing, food items, medications, and household appliances.
